I just colored this, but man it was a pain in the butt to color. Two days to finish.

Anyway, it did not come out the way I wanted it to. So I have failed....

But overall, I think my shading, and lighting has improved doing this drawing. I am not sure. This was merely practice to improve my skills. I hope it worked.

I failed at the skin, and the hair.

I think it looks good, Matt^^
Just a few shadows and highlights in the hair and I think it would be more to your liking. Everything else looks so detailed with the shading and the hair kinda looks flat.
But, other than that, it's very nice^^

I tried my best. The skin came out wrong, and I can't do hair all that well yet. But I really tried.

She looks really sweet ^^ Though you really have to define your shades more. They look blurry at the moment. Try adding some sharper spots as contrast to your softer shades.

I can never get the hair right. Stupid hair....

As for the shades, I am not sure how to go any farther. It be awesome if I knew how.

I agree with Deamond89's comment. Your hair shading needs to be a bit darker too to show up. You don't have to have extreme variations in colors to make shading look well done.

This is a VERY GOOD tutorial on how to do lighting. It focuses a lot on natural lighting, but it helps put a lot of thought into shading. Now I occasionally observe different shading in different lighting.
